Court Marriage Without Parents' Consent in Pakistan
Adults in Pakistan do not need their parents' consent to marry. A court marriage without parental consent is lawful — and the way to make it secure is complete documentation: the affidavit of free will, a registered Nikah Nama and the MRC.

Quick Answer
Parental consent is not a legal precondition for an adult's marriage in Pakistan, and the superior courts have repeatedly upheld the right of adults to marry by choice. Both parties must be adults acting freely; the affidavit of free will and registration documents are the couple's protection.
The Legal Position
An adult of sound mind may marry of their own free will, and parental consent is not a legal precondition. The superior courts have repeatedly upheld this — including in cases brought by couples marrying against family preference. The right is real, and it is exercised through a lawful, documented nikah registered with the Union Council.
The Conditions That Still Apply
- Both parties must be adults under the law of the relevant province — 18 for both in Sindh
- Consent must be free — no coercion in either direction
- Both parties must be free to marry — no subsisting marriage without Arbitration Council permission
- The nikah essentials must be observed — ijab-o-qabool, two witnesses, Haq Mehr
- The marriage must be registered with the Union Council under the MFLO 1961
