Online Nikah Procedure in Pakistan

The online nikah procedure combines a video-link ceremony with the same legal backbone as any Pakistani marriage: verified documents, a licensed Nikah Khawan, two witnesses, a completed Nikah Nama and Union Council registration. Here is each step in order.

Step-by-step online nikah procedure by video call in Pakistan

Quick Answer

The procedure is: consultation, document verification, wakeel appointment where needed, a technical rehearsal, the video ceremony with ijab-o-qabool and witnesses, Union Council registration, the computerised MRC, and attested international delivery for overseas clients.

Step 1 — Consultation and Case Assessment

We confirm eligibility, marital status, time zones and the correct Union Council jurisdiction, and map out who will be present and who will be represented. You receive a written document checklist and a realistic timeline for your case.

Step 2 — Document Verification

Scans of CNICs or NICOPs, passports, witness CNICs and any divorce or death certificates are checked for consistency. Names, parentage and identity numbers must match exactly across every document, because the Nikah Nama data flows into the MRC and every later record.

Step 3 — Wakeel Appointment and Power of Attorney

Where a party cannot be present, we prepare the Special Power of Attorney, which the absent party signs and has attested by the Pakistani mission in their country. The original is couriered to Pakistan and verified before the ceremony is scheduled.

Step 4 — Technical Rehearsal

A short test call confirms video and audio quality for every participant — the couple, the wakeel, the witnesses and the Nikah Khawan — and a backup platform is agreed. The ceremony is scheduled at a time that works across time zones.

Step 5 — The Video Ceremony

The Nikah Khawan conducts the ceremony with the witnesses physically present. Identity is confirmed on camera, the ijab-o-qabool is exchanged and heard by the witnesses, the Haq Mehr is recorded, and the Nikah Nama is signed in Pakistan by the present parties, the wakeel, the witnesses and the registrar. The ceremony usually takes under an hour.

Step 6 — Union Council Registration and MRC

The Nikah Nama is registered with the Union Council under the Muslim Family Laws Ordinance 1961, and we apply for the computerised MRC issued by the local authority from NADRA-linked records. Certified copies are prepared at the same time.

Step 7 — Attestation and International Delivery

For use abroad we arrange MoFA attestation, certified English translation and embassy legalisation where the destination requires it, then courier the complete document set with tracking to your address anywhere in the world.
