Online Nikah Requirements in Pakistan
Online nikah requirements mirror those of an in-person nikah — adulthood, free consent, witnesses and a licensed Nikah Khawan — with two additions: proper representation for any absent party, and a reliable technical setup. This guide covers both the legal and the practical requirements.

Quick Answer
You need: both parties adult under provincial law, free consent, two adult Muslim witnesses physically present with the Nikah Khawan, verified identity documents, a written wakeel authorisation for any absent party, and a stable video connection. Previously married applicants need divorce or death certificates.
Legal Requirements
- Both parties adult under the law of the relevant province (18 for both in Sindh)
- Free consent of both parties, declared in the ijab-o-qabool
- Two adult Muslim witnesses of sound mind, physically present with the Nikah Khawan
- A licensed Nikah Khawan or Nikah Registrar to solemnise and register the marriage
- Haq Mehr agreed and recorded in the Nikah Nama
- Divorce or death certificate where either party was previously married
- Arbitration Council permission under Section 6 MFLO for a marriage during a subsisting marriage
Representation Requirements for Absent Parties
A party who cannot be physically present must be represented by a wakeel appointed in writing — normally a Special Power of Attorney attested by the Pakistani mission in the country where the party lives. The wakeel attends the ceremony, confirms the absent party's consent and signs the Nikah Nama on their behalf. An unattested or vague authorisation is a common point of failure; we verify the document before scheduling.
Identity Verification Requirements
CNIC or NICOP scans are verified before the ceremony, and the remote party shows the original document on camera at the start. Foreign nationals show their passport. This verification record — documents checked, identity confirmed on camera, wakeel authority verified — is what protects the marriage against later challenge.
Technical Requirements
- A laptop, tablet or smartphone with a working camera and microphone
- A stable internet connection (broadband or strong 4G/5G)
- A quiet, private, well-lit space for the ceremony
- Zoom, WhatsApp video or Skype installed and tested
- A backup device or connection in case of failure
