Documents Required for Online Nikah in Pakistan

Online nikah documents fall into three groups: identity documents for verification, the representation documents that connect a remote party to the ceremony, and the supporting certificates for previously married applicants. This checklist covers all three, plus the documents you receive afterwards.

Documents required for online nikah in Pakistan including Power of Attorney

Quick Answer

You need clear scans of CNIC or NICOP for both parties, passports for anyone abroad or foreign, witness CNICs, and — where a party is represented — an original Special Power of Attorney attested by the Pakistani mission. Previously married applicants add a divorce or death certificate.

Identity and Status Documents

  • Clear scans of CNIC or NICOP of the bride and groom (both sides)
  • Passport copy of any party residing abroad or holding foreign nationality
  • Recent passport-size photographs of both parties
  • CNIC copies of the two witnesses
  • Registered divorce certificate or death certificate, if previously married
  • Embassy single-status or no-objection certificate for foreign nationals

The Special Power of Attorney

Where a party is represented, the Special Power of Attorney is the most important document in the file. It must clearly authorise the named wakeel to represent the party in the nikah, be signed by the absent party, and be attested by the Pakistani embassy or consulate in their country. The original is couriered to Pakistan — scans are not enough for this document. We provide the correct format and check the attested original before scheduling the ceremony.

Scan Quality and Consistency

Scans must be clear, complete and consistent: names, parentage, dates of birth and identity numbers must match exactly across every document. A mismatch copied into the Nikah Nama flows into the MRC and every later record. We verify every document against every other before the ceremony and correct discrepancies through the proper channel first.

Documents You Receive Afterwards

After the ceremony and registration you receive the registered Nikah Nama with certified copies, the Union Council registration record, and the computerised MRC when issued — couriered internationally with tracking. For use abroad we add MoFA attestation, certified English translation and embassy legalisation where the destination requires it.
